ABOUT OUTSIDE CHOICES
Very much like brother and sister, Outside Choices (2017) picks up where Inside Voices left off. Recorded with the same personnel and the same delicate balance of great writing and breathtaking improvisation, Outside Choices becomes the yang for Voices yin. The seven offerings range from the off-kilter joy of “Halfrica” to the simmering rage of “Before and After” to the quicksand-like noir of Mancini’s “Lujon”, with many crystalline moments along the way. The melodies are haunting, the grooves are devastating, and the band continues to expertly serve jazz purists, indie-rock hipsters, and funk loving jam fans alike.“…the sort of boundary-leaping creative jazz most listeners identify with the big-city scenes of places like Brooklyn, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area… This "trio plus horn section" incarnation of Kenosha Kid brings a particular edge to Nettles' music.. subtle in its own way… dusty, loping country-blues-tinged Americana… twangy, appropriately off-kilter romp… Nettles wrings ample variety from what might be considered Kenosha Kid's most "conventional" sextet format yet, in a concise package that whets the appetite for the second installment to come.” -All Music Guide

Based in the humid indie-rock haven of Athens, Georgia, Kenosha Kid has supplied the world with their own unique blend of modern-jazz-meets-college-radio for over a decade. In 2004, bandleader Dan Nettles began with these principles: build a scene, write for people you know, and listen to your creative heart regardless of music idiom. Starting with the release of Projector [2005], Kenosha Kid has succeed in this, providing a steady string of remarkable content in a variety of formations (from trio to ten piece) and flavors (from silent film scores to sci-fi influenced future-music):

2008 Steamboat (CD/DVD)
an all new score for Buster Keaton’s silent film

2009 Fahrenheit (Vinyl)
ten selections inspired by Ray Bradbury’s sci-fi classic

2010 Beginning with Land of Obey (digital)
creating the bandcamp archive of over 40 shows

2015 Inside Voices (Vinyl/CD)
showcasing the telepathic core trio plus three horns
