about

Midnight’s Children
This came about from two inspirations… the first: a counterpoint exercise with descending root motion, woven thirds on the top, and the inner voices added in to create whatever non-chord I could grab. The second was performing the music of George Lewis under his direction… exciting angular intervallic musical ideas! I put it into the score for “The Mascot” and borrowed the title from Rushdie. The whole piece was fleshed out and incorporated into Laylage Courie’s epic “I, Marlena” for the Fringe Festival in NYC.
